Why is your tissue donation important?

Researchers need samples and data to make progress. This is especially important in rare cancer research, where samples and data can be harder to access. By contributing your tumor tissue or fluid, researchers can use your sample to create invaluable research assets, such as cell lines and critical datasets, which help them to learn more about your cancer, advance treatment options, and improve outcomes.

In the future, when researchers better understand cancer, doctors may use these assets to customize cancer treatments based on each patient's unique genetic makeup. Establishing and sharing these projects is the first step in making that kind of progress.

You're in charge.

We enable cancer patients to directly donate their tumor tissue to researchers.

Pattern.org differs from hospitals who collect tumor tissue for research in some important ways:

  • We Share

Unfortunately, not all hospitals collaborate with scientists to ensure your tissue makes the biggest impact. We make all successful models openly available to the cancer research community.

  • Now and Later

We are able to get your donation to labs for immediate use in many cases rather than simply storing that tissue for the future. If your donation is not immediately matched to a researcher, however, we do have a Biobank where it is safely and securely stored as we work to quickly and effectively match it to a research project(s).

  • Anywhere, Anytime

Not all hospitals offer tissue donation. With Pattern.org, you can donate your tissue with any provider, at any hospital in the U.S. at no additional cost to you.
